Man-made Wonders of the Philippines
I always wonder of such beauty that's so unique, striking and remarkable that my beloved country Philippines possess. I searched the 7,107 islands of the archipelago and identified them in no specific order.
Here is my personal list of the man-made wonders here in the Philippines that I am proud of.
San Juanico Bridge
I've known this landmark since my elementary days and it has been considered as one of the most beautifully-designed bridges in the Philippines connecting the islands of Samar and Leyte. One more thing that amaze me is that, is also listed as one of the longest bridges in the world.
Bangui Windmill
I have never imagined we could have such a huge structure like this, not until I visited Bangui, Ilocos Norte. This windfarm aligns 20 turbines along the shorelines of Bangui Bay and its Philippines' first and considered the biggest in Southeast Asia.
Mall of Asia
The biggest mall known in the country makes a record as the 3rd largest mall in Asia.
Paoay Church and the Baroque Churces
There are four Spanish-era churches that was designated as Baroque Churches and inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List. Paoay Church is the most imposed buttresses among San Agustin Church in Manila, Nuestra SeƱora de la Asuncion in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur and Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Church in Miag-ao, Iloilo.
And last but definitely not the least is, Banaue Rice Terraces
As we also know as Hagdan-hagdang Palayan ng Banawe and refer as the 8th Wonder of the World was carved about a thousand years ago by our ancestors over six Cordillera provinces namely Kalinga, Apayao, Benguet, Mountain Province and Ifugao. Undeniably a treasure we need to preserve because aside from it is listed as a world heritage site it is also included on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
